Justice, Human Rights and Prison Decongestion
Following our resolve to uphold Human Rights by Decongesting the Prisons of inmates who shouldn’t be incarcerated, HRCRC facilitated the release of 13 inmates – discharge of five (5) and bail of eight (8) from Abakaliki Correctional Centre between May and June, 2024. Remarkably, one of 5 who was discharged and acquitted had been in custody for over six years Awaiting Trial.
We continue to advocate for a better, more humane, efficient and credible Criminal Justice System in Nigeria.
