HRCRC’s 2nd Quarter Branch Coordination Meeting

HRCRC’s 2nd Quarter Branch Coordination Meeting: HRCRC’s 2024 AOP includes cascading our interventions and learnings deeper into the grassroots, and as such we have put in place strategies to ensure that our members in the grassroots are given equal opportunities to improve themselves as well as the interventions they carry out.
We are grateful to our members who are devoted to driving home our vision and mission to the various communities.
With the help of our branches across the state, we have been able to intervene in cases all over the state and beyond.

Justice, Human Rights and Prison Decongestion

Justice, Human Rights and Prison Decongestion

Justice, Human Rights and Prison Decongestion

Following our resolve to uphold Human Rights by Decongesting the Prisons of inmates who shouldn’t be incarcerated, HRCRC facilitated the release of 13 inmates – discharge of five (5) and bail of eight (8) from Abakaliki Correctional Centre between May and June, 2024. Remarkably, one of 5 who was discharged and acquitted had been in custody for over six years Awaiting Trial.
We continue to advocate for a better, more humane, efficient and credible Criminal Justice System in Nigeria.

HRCRC Intervenes on Over Two Decades Land/Market Dispute

HRCRC Intervenes on Over Two Decades Land/Market Dispute: So, as part of our retail services, HRCRC intervened on a land/market dispute that was threateningly becoming violent in Ogharaugo communities of Ezza North LG in Ebonyi State. The land/market dispute had lingered for over two decades. Our intervention has seen both parties return to a state of Peaceful Coexistence and acceptance.

Concluding the Safeguarding Week

Concluding the Safeguarding Week was a seminar with all of HRCRC – staff, volunteers and branch representatives; with some beneficiaries from different LGAs.
We are most grateful to SPS West Africa and to Mr. Raphael Okusaga, the SPS Safegaurding Officer for the intense and insightful learnings on Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults.
Next step is Cascading our learnings to the grassroots.
