HRCRC: ON SENSITIZATION OF THE DANGERS OF CHILD TRAFFICKING

HRCRC joined the Office of Her Excellency, the Wife of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, NAPTIP, National Human Rights Commission, Ebonyi State GBV Taskforce, and other CSOs who participated in a road walk to sensitize and put the general public in the know of the dangers of child trafficking.

We thank the office of Her Excellency for joining her voice with ours to kick against Child Trafficking.

HRCRC Advocates to Ebonyi State Commissioner of Border Peace and Conflict Resolution – In seeking out new grounds for partnerships in helping to build a more peaceful society in Ebonyi State, HRCRC visited the Ebonyi State Commissioner and Ministry of Border Peace and Conflict Resolution.

It is our fervent hope that the areas of collaboration identified will culminate in a more seamless and robust approach to confronting conflicts in the State.

HRCRC In Partnership with Other CSOs Visits Ebonyi State Chapter of JONAPWD – In partnership with Hope Inspired Foundation, the National Human Rights Commission – Ebonyi State office, and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, HRCRC visited the Ebonyi State chapter of Joint National Association of Persons with Disability (JONAPWD); in a bid to collaborating to sort through internal issues to position members to achieve the advancement of PWDs.

The principal aim of this partnership is the domestication of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disability Prohibition Act 2018.

HRCRC Marks Her Annual Safeguarding Week

HRCRC Marks Her Annual Safeguarding Week: And so HRCRC marked her annual Safeguarding for Children and vulnerable adults week this past week. This Annual event is facilitated by our mother organization – St. Patrick’s Missionary Society SPMS through her Safeguarding Officer for West Africa – Raphael Okusaga.

Events kicked off with an in-house meeting for staff on Gender Referral Pathways in Ebonyi State on Thursday.

Friday Started with Safeguarding and Trauma Training for the Ebonyi State Gender Based Violence GBV Taskforce. This task force is a multi-sectoral group made of different line organizations, ministries, and agencies; with HRCRC a member of the Steering Committee. The training was Facilitated by Raphael Okusaga.

HRCRC thereafter visited the Ebonyi State Remand Home for Juveniles and an Orphanage for vulnerable children and the helpless run by Trinitarian Missionary Sisters; discussing safeguarding and attendant policies at each instance.

Saturday marked the grand finale with a refresher workshop on safeguarding, trauma, and self-care for HRCRC staff and volunteers; followed by a Recommitment and signing of recommitment to safeguarding for all staff and volunteers.

Our deepest gratitude to SPS, especially her District of West Africa, to the safeguarding office, and to Raphael Okusaga for coming.

HRCRC Trains on GBV Data Management: Just before shutting down for the Easter Festivities, HRCRC is grateful to Doris Ajah (FRED) for coming to facilitate training in GBV data management; especially in regard to the national GBV database domiciled in the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.
